Leicester City 1 - Arsenal FC 3

Arsenal travelled to the King Power stadium to take on the Foxes. It was a match that the London club were only feted to win, by the pundits, in the form of Berbatov.

It was a surprise when Arteta made wholesale changes after Arsenal's Europa win over Benfica. Especially  notable were the omissions of Partey, Saka, and Aubameyang.

Arteta started with a back four of Bellerin, Mari, Luiz, and Tierney. The midfield consisted of Xhaka, Elneny, as holding midfielders...Pepe, William, Smith-Rowe in advanced positions, and Lacazette leading the line.

As usual Arsenal started slowly, as they did at City, to concede a goal after only 7 minutes. However, the Gunners slowly roared back into life, dominating possession..up to 72% for most of the half.

Usually Arsenal will dominate possession, but be toothless upfront. So, it was that Luiz headed the Gunners ahead, showing what needs to be done...from defence.

Then, Lacazette gave Arsenal the lead before half time from the spot. So, the first half finished with the visiting Gunners ahead by a goal...would they be able to hold on?

Second Half

Arsenal went ahead shortly into the second half when Pepe tapped in after good linking play from Arsenal, making it 3-1 to the Reds.

Despite the pace of Vardey, Leicester seemed to run out of ideas, and relied on physical presence to get back into the game. Needless to say, this didn't work against a well drilled Arsenal outfit.

Arsenal replaced Smith-Rowe with Odegaard, Lacazette with Aubameyang, and Elneny with Partey, to give the Arsenal a semblance of a first team eleven.

The truth be told that Leicester, after conceding the third goal never got back into the match..so it was a vital 3 away points for the Gunners, and egg in the face of the pundits who so confidently predicted a Leicester win!
